What I Learn in SPED this Week About Christlike Love

This week in my SPED major classes, my cohort and I didn't just learn from the course content; we also learned a lot from the situations that came up around us. My professors and peers are amazing examples of showing Christlike Love.
United Faith and Prayers
We have a class group chat for sharing information about events and assignments. Lately, it has also become a place where we can request prayers for ourselves and our loved ones. Sometimes we are told what the issue is, and other times we are just asked to pray. It has been so powerful to see the faith of our cohort combine to bring miracles to pass. In a way, it has become our own personal Prayer Roll.
Supporting Each Other in Hard Times
Our classes are all in person, but our cohort has been constantly sick all semester! We have not had everyone present and feeling good for a long time. If people are sick enough to stay home, our professors have been amazing at setting up Zoom calls or letting students FaceTime their peers who couldn't make it. While this kind of distance learning can be difficult, we are learning to meet others where they are and help them get where they need to be.
Catering to the One
Everyone has different needs, and I have watched my professors do everything they can to help their students succeed. When students have accommodations, our professors are more than happy to work with them. When situations arise, students help us navigate them and our coursework. We recently had a student decide to switch their emphasis mid-semester, and we are working with them to make it work. My professors are examples of the kind of teacher I would like to be someday.
My professors and peers are amazing examples of Christlike Love. As the Master Teacher, Christ's love shows us how we should love our students. We have so many gospel discussions in my classes, but those around me are the best examples of Christlike love I have ever seen.
