Hello! My name is Ashley Roberts, and I am studying special education with an emphasis in severe disabilities. I LOVE being around individuals with disabilities, as well as helping them reach goals that at times may seem impossible!
I am from Fresno, California and am the youngest of two. I am a first-generation college student and have absolutely loved my journey at BYU so far! I especially love the supportive faculty and Christlike students within the McKay School.
Some of my favorite things to do in California are go to Disneyland, the beach, being outside, and of course spend time with my family! Since moving to Utah I have especially loved exploring the breathtaking National Parks here. In our free time, my husband and I love to travel, scuba dive, play frisbee and pickle ball, and watch movies together.
My freshman year at BYU I started as an Elementary Education major. However, after returning home from my mission I found a job at home in California as a paraeducator, also known as an aid, in a self-contained K-3rd grade special education classroom. After my first day on the job I knew I needed to change my major to Special Education. There is something so special and different about working with students with special needs. The light of Christ shines so bright from these children, and I am so excited to spend the rest of my career learning and growing with them!
