Meet Dr. Sarah Clark, a professor at the McKay School of Education in the Teacher Education Department! Dr. Clark earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education with a minor in Spanish. She also earned a Master's degree in language reading and culture from the University of Arizona. She obtained her Ph.D. in Literacy Education from Utah State University. These degrees have given Dr. Clark the opportunity to explore many different careers in education!
In regards to her numerous positions as educator, writer, and editor, Sarah says, "Get creative! We have this idea that we get a degree that leads to a job. And the reality is that you have been trained and prepared... with a certain set of skills and knowledge and understanding."
She continued, "I hope that I shared it enough in my path that I didn’t necessarily understand why I was doing certain things, but God did. If you take a step forward and be brave, it kind of opens up the next door for you. In my mind, that’s where that inspiration comes is from being creative and really thinking about what knowledge do I have that the average person doesn’t have."
