Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is here once again! It is a day to remember the importance of love in our lives. Love is not limited to romantic love but includes the love of those that have impacted our lives in positive ways. This could include our teachers, parents, family members, and friends.

To be effective teachers it is important to strive to love the students, families, and communities that we serve. "Teachers have three loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together." -Scott Hayden

Part of our mission statement at the McKay School of Education is, "we strive to model the attributes of Jesus Christ, the Master Teacher." An attribute of Christ is charity, which is pure and noble love. On this topic, Russell M. Nelson stated, "You are God’s agents in the care of children He has entrusted to you. Let His divine influence remain in your hearts as you teach." As teachers, we are God's hands as we are entrusted to teach a class of beloved children of God each school year. We have the daily opportunity to have His divine influence in our hearts as we strive to develop Christ-like love for our students.

So wish your favorite teachers a Happy Valentine's Day and tell them how much you appreciate all that they have done for you. We hope you have a great Valentine's Day!

If you are thinking about becoming a teacher, schedule a time to meet with one of our Student Ambassadors here!
