Student Spotlight: Ashley Zundel

Updated: May 10, 2023

Ashley Zundel is a student at Brigham Young University and is studying Physical Education Teaching/Coaching (PETE) and minoring in Health. She is from Southern California and loves to go to the beach, hang out with friends, watch the sunset, and play any sports. Being active is a huge part of her life. She grew up playing three sports: volleyball, softball and basketball.

Growing up, Ashley struggled to find confidence in herself, but whenever she was on a court or a field, she exuded confidence. She wants to help others find their passion and their confidence on and off the field, which is why she chose this major. Helping others is a lifelong goal of hers and she hopes to be able to accomplish that throughout her career.

This is Ashley's first semester in the PETE Program and it she has loved every second of it. Her favorite part of the PETE program is the firsthand experience she gets every day. She is able to teach PE to second and third graders and she feels like she has grown so much as a teacher already. Ashley looks forward to the rest of her time in the program and at BYU as she prepares to have a classroom of her own one day.

If you would like to learn more about the PETE major or speak with a student ambassador about their experiences, schedule an appointment!
