FAQ: What is Student Teaching?
Updated: May 1
Student teaching is one of the two options to fulfill your final capstone experience. It is typically completed the last semester before your graduate. With the exception of the PETE major, in which you normally do student teaching, students are given the opportunity to do either an internship or a student teaching as their capstone. Because of this, it is important to be informed about both options when deciding which one is best for you! Student
teaching is a semester-long experience in one of BYU's partnership districts. The student teacher takes on more responsibility as they are a co-teacher with the mentor teacher.
