McKay Student Ambassador

Each of the advisors here at the McKay School want to help their students. They want to get to know you and help you succeed. Here you can get to know Nichole Chaffee!

Nichole Chaffee:

Tell us a little about yourself!
I came to BYU 4 years ago after being in the classroom for 10 years. I taught 5th grade in Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia. I became an advisor to be the support that I always craved during my college years. I truly enjoy interacting with students and seeing them progress from freshmen to teacher.
What can students come to you for?
Anything! Course planning, program information and help, support and encouragement, just to chat!
What is your favorite part about working with students?
Talking to them about elementary education, their classes, and just seeing their excitement for teaching.
What's one thing you want every student to know? You are not alone and don't have to navigate the program by yourself. In the Education Advisement Center (EAC), we love to help and support and are here to do just that.
What advice would you give to a new student? Don't be afraid to ask for help. Give yourself grace. Read your emails. Be humble and curious. Pray and wait to see the hand of the Lord work miracles in your life.
Anything else you'd like to share? We really do care and want you to succeed. Don't panic if your plan doesn't seem to be working out.
