Once students are in the program, they have the opportunity to participate in practicum, where they gain field experience in schools. We’re assigned to schools and classrooms where we learn, observe, and teach! Going into schools is quite the adventure, so it’s important to be prepared. We asked education students what their favorite things in their teacher bags are or were. Here are some of their answers!

Emma Allen:

My favorite things were easily my hand sanitizer, a dirty soda, and sticky notes to write cute notes to my students. There are germs in a school, so hand sanitizer is a must; I need a fun drink to get me through my day, and kids love notes to make them feel special!

Kylie Woods:

My favorite items in my teacher bag are my hand lotion, hand sanitizer & mints! Making sure you feel your best is key to having a good day during practicum!

Dani Juarez:

My favorite thing in my teacher bag is my claw clip! One of my students drew on it for me with my favorite colors and it keeps my hair out of the way when I interact with students!

Brie Pollack:

My favorite items in my teaching bag are my water bottle to keep me hydrated, my mini journal to jot down notes and ideas, and a sweet treat to give me a little boost at the end of a long day.
