With finals just around the corner and so many things to do, you might be feeling a little stressed. So, we've put together a list of tips and tricks that you might find helpful as you take on the final stretch!
1. Start studying early
It can be tempting to use your reading day to relax and do whatever you want, but stay focused. Schedule out when you will take each test, and how many days you have to study for it. Study a little bit every day, rather than trying to cram in every last detail at the last second. If you start out by studying early, you can reduce stress, and be more prepared.
2. The earlier you take your test, the better
I've discovered that the earlier in the morning you go to the Testing Center, the less crowded it is. The Testing Center opens at 8 am, and that's a prime time to get in there while your brain is awake. Plus, then you have the whole rest of the day to relax or start studying for your next test! This can apply to the day as well. Even if you have the option to take your final all week, don't wait! The Testing Center line is usually EXTREMELY long on the last day. It often goes out the door and wraps all the way around campus.
3. Eat a good breakfast
I know every teacher ever tells you this, but it really does matter. A sufficient meal will help prepare you for the day and give your body the sustenance that it needs to power your brain. Don't be hangry during finals week!
4. Get a full night's rest
Adults need at least 7-9 hours of sleep to perform and function to the best of their ability. Don't stay up late cramming the night before. Plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to sleep on it. After all, sleep is when you absorb what you learned that day.
5. Find a study group
Studying with a group is a great way to prepare for tests. Sometimes the brain power of 3 or 4 people can help you solve problems and find information much faster and more efficiently.
6. Take breaks
Don't try to absorb every bit of information from the past semester in 10 hours straight. Plan out your day, set goals, and take breaks. For every hour of studying, give yourself a 15 minute break. Get outside, take a walk, and let your mind relax before you dive back into the books.
Good luck with your finals and happy studying!
You guys got this. Go crush those finals.
