PETE STUDENT INTERVIEW

November 7, 2018

Today we are highlighting former PETE student, Alexis Watts, who graduated from the BYU McKay School this past spring! Alexis grew up in Cottonwood Heights, Utah with a very physically active family. Her parents raised her to excel in many different sports and develop a love for competition. Her family, including her parents, have all played competitive tennis; However Alexis's true passion was in cheerleading.

Alexis did her student teaching at Lone Peak High School with Coach Nancy Warner. Since graduating, she scored an awesome teaching and coaching job with them. Lone Peak is located in Alpine, just 30 minutes from BYU campus. Along with teaching P.E., she also teaches health, medical terminology, and is Lone Peak's newest cheer coach!

"I'm so grateful that I get to do what I am passionate about. I love coming to practice everyday and seeing my girls improve and nail a routine. It seriously makes me so happy, I have the best job ever!" -Alexis Watts

Alexis learned about the PETE program through her older sister, Kimberly Rohner, who graduated from BYU in 2015. Kimberly also majored in physical education and minored in health. She taught and coached tennis at West Lake High School before moving to California last year. Alexis has walked in her older sister's footsteps and is loving her new job as a teacher and coach.

"The students are what makes this job fun. As you get to know them more, the more you want to help them succeed and reach their full potential." -Watts
