I remember back when the idea of becoming a teacher began to form in my head. My decision to take the leap hadn't quite become firm, but thinking about it only took me so far. So, with a mind full of considerations and even more questions, I decided that the next step would be to meet with a McKay School academic advisor. When I first made my way up to the glass-walled office on the 3rd floor of the McKay Building, I still didn't know if this was the path for me, but I hoped I could at least get some questions answered. I first met with a student advisor who helped me set up an appointment with JaNeece Thacker who ended up being so kind and accommodating! She listened to my concerns and helped me understand what studying Elementary Education would entail. She set my nerves at ease, and before I knew it, I felt confident about the graduation plan we set up together. There's no need to worry; if you have any question about becoming an education major, don't hesitate to set up an appointment with an advisor!
In an ideal situation, you can visit the Education Advisement Center for the McKay School of Education located on the third floor of the McKay School on the North end of the building (350 MCKB). However, due to COVID-19, the advisors have shifted to working remotely and are meeting with students via Zoom!
To schedule a Zoom meeting with an advisor email email@example.com
The advisors are available during normal work hours on weekdays (8 AM–5 PM Monday and Fridays, and 8 AM–5:45 PM Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.)
Additionally, for students interested in either Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education, an El Ed/ECE program orientation meeting is held weekly via Zoom. To get more information about this meeting, email JaNeece Thacker firstname.lastname@example.org.
