Well everyone, you made it. Past moving in. Past new student orientation. Past all of the preparation. Today is the day…the first day of classes! Congratulations on making it this far, and don’t give up! There are only a couple of things we thought would be important to say to you today...
The first is: You can do it! Enjoy your time here at BYU starting on the first day. Get to know your professors, TAs, and classmates. Stay on top of your homework, and if you need help, reach out! We are here for you if you have any questions, as are your peer mentors. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask!
The second point I wanted to mention is...don't forget to apply to your program. Now, don't worry, you still have plenty of time. I just wanted to throw that out, to remind you guys to get started on the application process. There is a checklist you can access through the website. Take a look at it, and start planning out when you will do what. For now...don't stress! I just know there are some people who like to know early on, so we thought we would mention it now.
Also, if you haven't signed up for the prerequisites for your major, check those out now! You can still add and drop classes until next week, so I definitely recommend looking into completing the prerequisites for the majors your are interested in:
SFL 210 (Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Physical Education, plus it fulfills the Social Science GE)
ECE 202 (Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education)
CPSE 203 (Special Education...for more info on the Special Education prerequisites, click here)
CPSE 425 (Special Education)
MTHED 305 (Special Education)
NDFS 100 (Physical Education)
SC ED 353 (Physical Education)
Congrats on making it through the first day so far, and good luck with any classes you have left!
Follow the link below to find the application page for the major you are interested in! On the left side of the page under "Admissions", there is an "apply now" option. That will lead you to the checklist!
